Job descriptionWe are looking for creative individuals who have a natural talent for making connections with young children. Candidates must be warm, fun lovingand nurturing; possess a positive energy;enjoy designing activities and playing with children; take direction well; be quick to learn; and must communicate and work well with others. At least 6 months experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting, and coursework in early childhood are preferred.Hands-on training provided. Must be 18 years or older Must clear full background check and pass health screening. Must be available to work between the hours of 9 : 00 am and 5 : 30 pm. Summary
The Mead School is a small progressive independent day school nestled on 14 beautiful acres in Stamford, Connecticut. We enroll students from Infancy to Grade 8 and honor children as curious and capable learners. Our progressive approach emphasizes hands-on exploration, social and emotional growth, and meaningful engagement with the world. Our Early Learning Centers provide a play based, hands-on, socially interactive learning environment. As a small school we foster close relationships among educators, children and families - creating a nurturing and inclusive learning community.
Currently, we are seeking two teachers to work with toddlers who range in age from two to three.
Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Working in collaboration with a teaching team to establish and maintain
- A physically safe, clean, and healthy learning environment, both inside and out, to prevent injury and reduce illness.
- A consistent, predictable, responsive, and well-organized environment, intentionally prepared to meet the evolving needs of students, foster a sense of belonging and emotional security, and encourage appropriate behavior.
- A respectful, loving and inclusive environment that values and honors each child's gender identity, race, culture, family, language, and learning style to nurture a positive and strong sense of self.
- An environment that provides a developmentally appropriate and anti-bias curriculum and supports each child's emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
