JOB SUMMARY

This position is in the Office of the City Auditor and is supervised by the City Auditor or Assistant City Auditorwithin the City of Oklahoma City. The Audit Manager is primarily responsible for performing program / operational audits and conducting investigations of considerable scope and complexity. Work requires considerable contact with individuals at all levels of the City organization and outside agencies. Essential job functions include : providing professional opinions to supervisors and Executive City Management both formally and informally; analyzing program data and information and designing and carrying out an appropriate audit plan; assessing program outcomes and operational efficiency and effectiveness; evaluating and testing financial and operational records and management controls; presenting oral and written reports and recommendations; assisting in developing office-wide work plans, department policies and audit staff evaluations. The Audit Manager may allocate and review work when supervising audit team members that may be assigned to the engagement. Work is reviewed through discussions and evaluation of working papers, reports and recommendations.

VETERANS PREFERENCE

Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and who meet the qualifications for the position shall be given preference.   • Possession of a master's degree or a bachelor's degree and relevant professional certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in auditing, management, finance, budgeting, public administration, or other relevant field.

  • Note : Typical City employee working hours are 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, working hours vary (may require work to begin before 8 : 00 a.m. and / or end beyond 5 : 00 p.m., and / or may require work on weekends and holidays), and are subject to change, based on the duties and location of the position and the business needs of the assigned work unit / department.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Vision enough to read computer screen, documents, working papers, etc.
  • Speech and hearing enough to communicate in person and by telephone in a normal office environment and during presentations.
  • Arm-hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard, ten-key, and other normal office equipment.
