Voluntary Transfer Opportunities are Available to Current City of Reno Classified Employees OnlyIf you are not currently employed with the City of Reno or if you are employed in a temporary, part-time, grant-funded or otherwise non-Civil Service position, this application does not apply to you; however, we encourage you to check out our website / other for employment opportunities within the City of Reno. Voluntary Transfer List : Transfers may be made between two job classifications in the same pay grade.

  • You may be placed on the transfer list for your current classification in other departments.
  • You may be placed on the transfer list for a different classification in any department - must be closely related to your current classification with similar minimum qualifications.Applicable Civil Service Rule : RULE X. TRANSFERSection 1. General.Transfers of classified employees shall be subject to approval by the Commission. Classification seniority for promotional purposes shall not be affected and will be retained in Civil Service records for the particular classification carried.Important Voluntary Transfer Details :
  • If you transfer, your current departmental seniority does not count in your new department.
  • Your classification seniority will not be affected if you transfer to the same classification in another department.
  • Once you transfer, you will serve the established classification probationary period of your new positionEssential function will vary depending on the position.
