Job description

Maintenance Planner

Essential Job Duties:

  • Plans daily maintenance duties
  • Analyzes and investigates all work requests
  • Develops all work order-based job plans and manages work order backlog
  • Prioritizes the corrective and project work orders to be planned and scheduled
  • Lists all materials and any special tools or equipment needed to perform the work to maximize technician wrench time
  • Estimates cost of each work order in terms of direct labor, materials required and total cost
  • Compiles equipment information into a job package that is ready for technicians to accomplish each shift; clearly communicating the critical steps in the work process
  • Plans all maintenance work, estimates time and resources, and schedules all planned jobs
  • Plans for impending maintenance needs and runs the Preventative Maintenance program
  • Works with Plant Engineering teams and to support equipment reliability and mechanical integrity programs
  • Oversees plant preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs
  • Identifies the scope and analysis of required level of planning and overall scheduling of maintenance activities given available resources, criticality of work, and available maintenance windows
  • Tracks and reports on appropriate metrics to monitor and improve maintenance performance and plant reliability
  • Assists with planning/scheduling effort for major plant turn-around, projects, and equipment overhauls
  • Manages and replenishes parts inventory
  • Responsible for ordering parts, receiving, stocking machine parts for production in correct locations
  • Perform accurate cycle counts to maintain correct inventory levels
  • Maintain inventories and replenish as needed all maintenance department consumable supplies
  • Monitor and control all recyclables: batteries, bulbs, cutting torch tanks, electronics and all other controlled materials used in the maintenance department
  • Review parts and service proposals to ensure cost-effective value in all purchases with Planning and Purchasing Supervisor as requested
  • Assumes other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English Language
  • Strong computer skills - maintenance and inventory software and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use Enterprise Software for planning and purchasing, SAP preferable
  • Maintenance background preferred
  • Ability to complete root cause analysis failure reports with cooperation of department teams
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work in cooperation with others
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

Activities: Office type environment along with active duties that include walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling.

Hearing: Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion: Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Typical office, warehouse, and refrigerated plant environment, with no hazardous or significantly unpleasant working conditions.
