HDR is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group in Newport News-VA or Virginia Beach-VA. This individual will be responsible for the site civil design of facilities for a variety of markets including but not limited to Federal, Water / Wastewater, Municipal and Industrial. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction. Experience in site development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. Experience with Maryland and Virginia stormwater permitting is preferred. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound civil site designs. Other responsibilities will also include leading a team of engineers and CAD professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
- Strong operating knowledge of Civil 3D is required
- Experience with stormwater design modeling programs such as HydroCAD, Hydraflow, Hydrographs, Storm & Sanitary Analysis, HEC-RAS, etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Preference given to local candidates
