Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do : Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our growing Kansas City, MO office, located in the heart of downtown. This person will provide transportation engineering services on highway, bridge and rail projects throughout the country. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of professional experience. This position could also be located at our Wichita, KS location. We are looking for a candidate to join our team who is excited to work on a variety of complex projects with colleagues who enjoy all aspects of design. The Highway & Traffic Team is currently involved in safety and design alternative analysis, corridor reconstruction projects, interchange and intersection improvements, bridge preservation projects and bridge replacement projects. Research design alternatives, code requirements and present findings. Prepare and review reports, contract drawings, cost estimates and specifications. Communicate regularly with the Project Manager as to expected results, workload, and progress. Advocate for, lead, and mentor entry level engineers. Communicate and attend meetings with clients, subconsultants, and other project stakeholders. Engage in business development activities including information gathering, preliminary design and proposal writing. Develop accurate engineering designs and plans with quality presentation, while meeting project budgets, schedules, and company standards. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Qualifications What you bring to our firm : Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university. At least 4 years highway and engineering experience. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.). Microstation & Geopak, Open Roads Designer, VISSIM, VISUM, AutoCAD. Traffic signal design and Synchro experience; knowledge of MUTCD, HSM & HCS.
