Summary :
Manages the settlement of complex, high-value commercial claims, and litigated files independently. Maintains a high percentage of litigated cases and may manage a fully litigated desk. Cases will involve complex commercial coverage, liability, damages and / or injuries. May give technical assistance to staff adjusters on their files. Manages independent adjusters and attorneys assigned to the Senior Examiners files. Has settlement authority in excess of claims examiners. May extend settlement authority to staff adjusters or examiners. Does not administratively supervise staff adjusters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Handle high-complexity and / or high-value Commercial Garage / Garagekeepers claims independently.
- Manage a highly litigated desk independently.
- Analyze, review and interpret policies to assess coverage and liability.
- Establish and maintain proper loss and expense reserves on their claims.
- Determine what investigation is necessary in order to bring a claim to an equitable conclusion for all parties involved.
- Responsible for controlling work done by independent adjuster.
- Properly document information in the claim file.
- Evaluate and settle claims within assigned authority.
- Maintain a working diary of assigned claims.
- Provide excellent customer service and return all phone calls promptly.
- Daily contact with adjusters, insureds, claimants, attorneys, vendors, underwriters and / or agents
- Assist in the training of associates within the unit.
- Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
- May have authority to approve Reservation of Rights and / or Declination letters.
- Deal with and have access to information that is important and must be kept confidential.
