Claims Intern – Summer 2027

Are you a talented college student looking to get your foot in the door in the insurance industry? If so, this summer 2027 opportunity could be a great fit for you!

What You’ll Do: As a Claims Intern, you will perform various claims and appraisal tasks. You will primarily be in charge of reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing documentation in relationship to claims. You will assist with auto storm loses and manage claim assignments for material damage. Also, you will assist with managing and keeping track of losses during storm season and have the opportunity to manage rentals vehicles and assist in processing title work. If time allows, there is a chance for you to work with some Underwriting processes to expand your experience.

As an intern,you will also participate in corporate activities designed to provide exposure to our industry, organization, and culture. Our internship program follows an 80/10/10 approach:

80% of your time will be spent performing meaningful work and project-based assignments within your department.
10% of your time will be dedicated to learning from and networking with employees in other areas of the organization.
10% of your time will be spent participating in shared internship experiences that provide insight into our culture, leadership, and business operations.

This opportunity is a great way for you to get your foot in the door and spend your summer gaining entry-level claims/insurance experience, as well as general corporate real-world exposure.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

Be a current college student. Agricultural, business, or insurance major preferred. Junior or Senior Status preferred.
A quick learner who is looking to learn new concepts and ideas, and able to learn basic understanding of property insurance policies.
Strong computer skills are required to quickly learn our multiple systems. Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
Effective communicator, have excellent customer service skills, and be team focused.
Must be detail oriented and willing to ask questions.
Must be comfortable talking the telephone, as approximately 75% of your time will be spent on the phone.
Be available to work full time (8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday) and in-person from our New Mexico State office during the summer of 2027.
