Description
The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the stewardship of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South. The Collection is currently accepting resumes for the position of Visitor Services Assistant.
The Visitor Services Assistant is the principal liaison with visitors, including greeting the public, engaging visitors with information and commentary, and collecting visitor data and statistics. This position also assists the Head of Visitor Services and the Visitor Services Supervisor, helps with other museum programs, projects, and provides front desk visitor services throughout the properties.
The ideal candidate must have a sincere and sustained interest in New Orleans' and Louisiana's unique history and the ability to learn and retain substantial amounts of historical information. Qualified candidates must demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills, an ability to be part of a team, and be responsive to a dynamic work environment. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to handle cash and learn and use job-related software. A proficiency in a foreign language (French, German, or Spanish) is preferred.
This is a full-time position. The work hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Collection offers a competitive salary and a dynamic, educational culture.
