The Opportunity :
The University of Central Florida (UCF) Academic Health Sciences Center (AHSC) is seeking well-qualified candidates for an Assistant Director, Clinical Programs – Sports Medicine position. This position is responsible for providing competent medical care and prevention education to all patients to foster recovery from acute illness, prevent avoidable medical problems, and sustain and support those with chronic illness. This includes, but is not limited to, diagnosis, treatment, and minor surgical procedures. The Assistant Director, Clinical Programs - Sports Medicine position will provide medical care services to students / patients, supervise designated providers on Primary Care / Sports Medicine pods, and will supervise and oversee Radiology Technician / Radiology Services.
Responsibilities :
Provide and supervise the provision of competent medical care and prevention education to all patients to foster recovery from acute illness, prevent avoidable medical problems, and sustain and support those with chronic illness or challenged bodies. This includes but is not limited to diagnosis, treatment, and performance of minor surgical procedures.
Provide primary care in sports medicine clinic services including care of UCF Athletes and participate in collaborations with the UCF Athletics Association.
Coordinate and supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Physicians assigned to first-floor Primary Care / Sports Medicine pods requiring direct knowledge of the practice patterns of these providers and the ability to assess their quality of care.
Coordinate and supervise Radiologic Technologists who conduct daily operations of the Radiology Department in accordance with Federal and Florida state laws.
Develop appropriate medical records and correspondence with appropriate peers, university officials, and consultants, as needed; participate in long-range planning with the Medical Director; participate in appropriate committees as recommended by the Medical Director.
Additional duties include but are not limited to serving as a temporary backup to other Assistant Directors of Clinical Programs when they are unavailable to perform their usual administrative duties.
Provide ongoing medical education opportunities for SHS staff. This will include lectures, supervising residents in training, and medical students and sports medicine fellows.
Minimum Qualifications :
1+ year(s) of leadership experience, Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes, and 4+ years of relevant experience. Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Preferred Qualifications :
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in college health or comparable busy primary care outpatient clinical experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to relate well with staff and students in a college health environment.
Preference may be given to candidates who completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with Electronic Health Record Systems.
