Overview :
The Revenue Cycle Clinical Charging Specialist (RCCCS) is an expert in the use of health information technology (HIT) or data and information sciences applied to revenue cycle business operations. This role demonstrates masterful knowledge of revenue cycle structure and operations, information and communications technologies, secondary data use and their impact on system design, and the intersection between clinical care and revenue cycle domains.
This role uses their deep knowledge of both revenue cycle technologies, technology systems and workflows to improve efficiencies; solve complex issues; and incorporate cost saving measures, quality, regulatory, and other high priority organizational initiatives in partnership with operations and IT colleagues.
The CCS is responsible for working with revenue cycle users to identify current state workflows and develop future state workflows to increase user productivity and efficiency. The CCS develops workflows that rely upon automation of workflows through technology resources wherever possible to maximize the Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) system and reduce manual intervention by users.

Responsibilities / Job Description :
- Covers decision support with a revenue cycle focus, information and knowledge management, provides input on clinical documentation related to charge capture / order entry / smart sets, system design, implementation, training, and adoption.
- Uses advanced interpersonal skills and relationship management to foster intra-professional teamwork.
- Applies critical thinking, objective analysis, and systematic evaluation of problems to formulate recommendations to stakeholders. Supports defined operational and IT processes in daily prioritization and decision making. Participates in the development of reports and dashboards and facilitates the communication between operational stakeholders and IT.
- Champions data integrity and semantic interoperability.
- Prepares revenue cycle users for and supports users for upgrades and system updates.
- Maintains systems to meet internal key performance measures as well as regulatory, state, and federal standards.
- Support the progression towards the use of standard concepts and terminologies to support evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and education.
- Evaluates the social, legal, regulatory, and ethical impact of informatics solutions on healthcare workflows and processes.
