Melmark Overview

Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.

Clinical Training Coordinator Overview

The Clinical Training Coordinator supports the Melmark School in all aspects of daily operations that includes but is not limited to : assisting with the design and implementation of new hire training and advanced professional trainings, carrying out existing training, monitoring and reporting the effectiveness of training of new employees during the orientation period and advancing professionals in their career development. This position is the primary contact for new employees; therefore, this person must present well as a high-level professional daily. They must remain current on educational and clinical concepts, and practices, procedures and information regarding professional licensure requirements. The Clinical Training Coordinator researches new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing training programs. They must be knowledgeable and remain current of compliance for all Federal and State regulatory requirements for the organization surrounding training and development. This position supports the Senior Director of Professional Development, Training and Research, assisting with special projects and advanced training series as needed.

This role will act as a clinician and will be responsible for functional assessment, behavior support development, crisis management, and training of personnel and program implementation oversight for assigned students. This role will require active programming oversight in the school setting for the student caseload, thereby requiring regular presence in classrooms. The Clinical Training Coordinator will ensure that all clinical standards of excellence are acquired and maintained by management staff and direct personnel via the implementation of the staff feedback system.

Schedule and Salary Information

  • Monday- Friday 8am- 4 : 30p
  • Starting Salary : $80,000 (+) based on years of experience

Requirements

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in ABA, Psychology, Education or Special Education.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required.
  • A valid US driver’s license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status. Must secure Melmark Certification on Functional Analysis.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in clinical service delivery and supervision within public or approved private school settings and in implementing evidence-based procedures for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism and challenging behaviors. Must enjoy training and presenting to groups and individuals. Possess the ability to adapt teaching style to learner’s style.
  • Clinical Training Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Develops New Hire Orientation Training Schedule in advance through coordination with all presenters. Updates New Hire Orientation Training content as needed to incorporate new required training or regulation changes. Develops and revises Orientation Program to Improve new staff knowledge and skill performance. Provides documented feedback check points.
  • Maintains records of training attendance and completion, uploads training documents and completes data entry related to training in HRIS and Performance Management systems. Summarizes and distributes orientation survey feedback to Director of Program Administration and Clinical Services. Conducts school onsite training audits on a monthly basis.
  • Identifies staff needing Recertification via training records and staff training database. Identifies required trainings by review of regulatory guidelines. Develops Annual Recertification training schedules and delivers as needed. Tracks instructor certification and prompts renewal reminders. Develops and revises advanced training manuals as needed.
  • Implements current behavior intervention strategies (and future adaptations) : Policies and Procedures as outlined by Melmark and ensure policies and procedures on behavioral strategies are implemented consistently and accurately across clinical settings (procedural integrity). Train staff on clinical programs.
  • Proactively assesses progress on Behavior related IEP goals and ensures students meet quarterly goals.
  • Provides direct weekly observation of assigned students in designated classroom settings and residences. Observation schedules must be based on the needs of the students and are in response to areas of skill or behavioral deficiencies.
  • Prepares for IEP meetings through timely adherence of all due dates related to planning meetings, including IEP writing for behavior need area, Behavior Support Plan (BSP) development, Functional Behavior Assessment, Preference Assessment and other supporting documents.
