Job description

Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs as team lead over addictions counselors assigned to a clinical team. Provides clinical supervision and / or consultation to addiction counselors on clinical team as appropriate. Develops team member schedules and ensures or provides adequate staff coverage while minimizing overtime expenses. Assigns and distributes work for the clinical team to provide optimal client care. Reviews documentation in client records as needed to assure regulatory compliance and to provide clinical supervision. Train new and current employees on processes. Completes performance appraisals

Essential Functions :

  • Performs lead work functions over addictions counselors including participating in work planning, determining priorities for the team, providing technical guidance and direction in unusual and nonstandard situations, reviewing documentation to ensure regulatory standards are met and procedures followed, and providing clinical supervision to addictions staff. Develops or modifies methods and procedures, determines work priorities, and develops work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness. Prepares necessary and required reports as needed for team and management. Conducts team meetings. (5%)
  • Acts as a liaison for the multi-disciplinary team, and ancillary departments, regarding problem solving, conflict resolution. (5%)
  • Resolves problems encountered during daily operations and determines appropriate solutions. Provides work instruction and assists team members with difficult and / or unusual assignments. Documents situations which may be cause for disciplinary action and provides this information to management. (5%)
  • Conducts client assessment as needed and may have a daily caseload of ten or more clients when other lead duties are completed. Oversees and assists ensuring all clients are met with daily. (5%)
  • Completes all State, Federal, and agency mandated documentation. Assures documentation is legible and is reflective of interventions and client response to treatment. Performs according to all regulatory standards of care and clinical policies and procedures for the department. (5%)
  • Interacts with colleagues, clients, family members, and the public in a manner that promotes excellence in service. Supports and facilitates an environment conducive to teamwork. Works as a member of the client care team by asking for additional tasks, or helping others when not busy. (5%)
  • Participates in the peer review process by providing constructive feedback to colleagues. Participates in unit staff meetings and huddles. Works with and under the direction of the Addiction Supervisor to recognize positive behavior and contributions to the organization using praise, appreciation and rewards. (5%)
  • Helps maintain a safe environment for clients, family members, visitors, and employees. Utilizes a variety of crisis intervention techniques to respond to aggressive behavior. Meets all safety and infection control requirements. Maintains dress code standards established by the agency. (5%)
  • Seeks out educational opportunities to improve practice and shares information with colleagues. Completes continuing education units (CEU) as required to maintain certification / employment. Completes all annual mandatory training as assigned. (5%)
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance – performs weekly & monthly QA audits in adherence to expectation. Train & assist staff to meet QA goals and requirements. (5%)
  • Delegates job assignments and monitors work flow. Monitors and tracks employee daily assignments. (5%)
  • Staffs clinical areas during shortages due to PTO, Sick-Calls, and FMLA. (5%)
  • Answers telephone inquiries; screens calls; routes calls and takes messages. (5%)
  • Attends monthly Gemba meetings; attends regularly scheduled department and leadership meetings, huddles, and one-on-ones with Supervisor / Manger and passes information to the clinical team in a timely and effective manner. (5%)
  • Address client issues and uphold high level of customer service amongst clinical staff at all times. (5%)
  • Works with and under the direction of the Addiction Supervisor. Promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors. Treats these individuals with courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect; consistently displays courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications. (5%)
  • Works with and under the direction of Addiction Supervisor to set clear performance expectations for staff by developing job specific expectations and behaviors for each position supervised. Communicates expectations to each employee and establishes the expectations related to job requirements and performance appraisal components. (5%)
  • Works with and under the direction of the Addiction Supervisor to evaluate ongoing competency and identifies training and staff development needs of employees and ensures appropriate training provided. (5%)
  • Works with and under the direction of the Addiction Supervisor to initiate formal / informal activities with employees to develop departmental cohesion and collegiality. (5%)
  • Works with and under the direction of the Addiction Supervisor to actively identify problems and opportunities for improvement; identifies appropriate solution and involves others in the implementation process. (5%)
  • Identifies and escalates system problems, environmental issues, and employee issues as appropriate, to the Addiction supervisor and clinic leadership team. (0%)

Education :

  • Master's Degree Required
  • Work Experience :

  • 1-3 years Three years clinical experience Required
  • Licenses :

  • LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW State Licensing Board Required
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of safety and infection control requirements. Knowledge of State and Federal and Agency mandated documentation. Knowledge of human behavior and performance. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Skill in logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Provide personal assistance, emotional support or other care to clients. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and telephone skills required.
  • Skilled analysis of information, critical thinking and problem solving with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team and a diverse client base explaining procedures and organizational policies in a health care setting.
  • Bi-lingual skills preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows XP
