Description
Schedule : Monday - Friday (40 hrs / wk)8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PMRemote Position
- Sign-out service is provided between the hours of 7am-7pm MT, Monday-Friday
- Schedule may be modified depending on time zone of residence
- Rotating weekend and holiday coverage is required
- Occasional off-hour coverage may be necessary

Primary Purpose :
The Clinical Cytogeneticist is responsible for the review, interpretation, and reporting (sign-out) of chromosome, FISH and / or genomic microarray cases. This position could be designated for a remote-based position.
Some Clinical Cytogeneticists may serve in multiple CLIA / CAP roles (Testing Personnel, Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant) although their assigned ARUP job title will remain that of Clinical Cytogeneticist.

Essential Functions :
Function as a peer member of the medical community.
Utilize, interpret, and correlate laboratory and clinical data in reviewing and reporting daily.
Chromosomes and FISH to include neoplastic, solid tumor, and constitutional (blood, prenatal, POC, tissue) karyotype and FISH analysis; and / or
Genomic microarrays This includes review of CNVs and plots; literature research, and report writing in conjunction with clinical variant scientists (CVS) and genetic counselors (GCs).
Serving as a consultant to clinical practitioners and other laboratory users.
Ensure that laboratory test data is accurate, timely, and informative.
Ensure that laboratory test data is accurate, reviewed in a timely manner (majority of cases verified between 7am-7pm MT), and reports are clearly written and informative.
Occasional off-hour coverage of the laboratory. Rotating weekend coverage every 7-8 weeks and rotating Holiday coverage is required.
Participate in Quarterly Mandatory Education.
As required, participate in and provide continuing medical education for laboratory staff, residents, and students, as well as for laboratory users.
Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities including, but not limited to, routine laboratory indicator review, competencies, and applicable Proficiency Testing surveys.
Assure compliance with all applicable regulations and certifications.
Project the organizations mission, image, and business philosophy in all interactions with clients, potential clients and others inside and outside of the organization.
Comply with all ARUP policies and procedures, including safety and biohazard regulations.
Maintain strict confidence and security for all information. Maintain high ethical standards.

Physical and Other Requirements :
Stooping : Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching : Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility : The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate : Frequently communicate with others.
PPE : Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures : To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Sedentary Work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Vision : Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
Fine Motor Control : Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
