Position Overview :
This position operationalizes nursing care policies, procedures, and solutions that adhere to a regulated and safe environment for our residents across the enterprise. This position will also focus on enhancing the knowledge and skill set of care team members through the delivery of both instructor led education and hands on skill competency training. Skills competency training includes the development of skills validation documentation and the delivery of hands-on skills validations in a training scenario and at the point-of-care. Successful interprofessional collaboration among peers, direct care team members and executives within the organization along with external vendor partners is a requirement of this position provides organized regulatory adherence, operational consistency, and governance of the respiratory care services needs of the patient and resident population and the enhancement of care team member knowledge and skill competence.
Key Responsibilities :
You will possess advanced skills in leadership and training, leading others by inspiring them to perform at the top of their licensure. This includes mentoring and inspiring roles such as the nursing aide, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, respiratory therapists (RT), and other RT supportive roles and care team members, and any partnerships that supplement any part of the clinical operations.
As a member of the education team you will possess and demonstrate passive and active listening skills to fully understand others and incorporate the concerns voiced at the point-of-care into your solutions across the enterprise related to clinical and respiratory operations.
You are required to effectively communicate horizontally and vertically across the organization, effectively articulating, writing, and expressing your concerns and interests to those you report to, those who work parallel to you and the executives within the organization.
This position requires dynamic management skills to coordinate with services of third (3rd) party vendor partnerships, such as respiratory care staffing, equipment, and supply vendors, Quality Improvement Organizations, and others.
Company clinical care policy and procedure compliance with state and federal regulations along with current standard of care is the responsibility of this role, to oversee, ensure procedures and safe practices are operationalized and adhered to by all personnel.
You will be proficient in escalating your concerns, observations, and recommendations to the correct roles across the enterprise and throughout interconnected partnerships that influence the day-to-day clinical operations within the organization.
As part of the education team, you will assist with the development and revision of training material to align with state and federal regulations, the needs of the resident population, and the learning capacity of the care team members.
Sustain a library of standardized content that can be customized to address the needs of specific patient populations and care team member capacity needs. This will include but not be limited to educational presentation material, skill validations, and pre / post test materials.
You will collaborate with, mentor, and train care team members across the enterprise ensuring all are performing at the top of their license, support the roles to create excellence, empower the roles to be successful, and professionally grow the roles to serve at a higher capacity if an opportunity becomes available.
Education will consist of but not be limited to validation of skill competency with return demonstration and pre / post testing to validate competence.
Skill competency will be validated with standardized validation tools to ensure redundancy of skill procedure standards.
Tracking and reporting of education completed including Care Team Member participation.
Fosters a culture of service excellence which anticipates and responds to the needs of our residents.
Ensures and protects the confidentiality of sensitive information.
You possess a strong clinical understanding of the educational needs of the care team members based on learning needs assessment data collected from sources including but not limited to; regulatory updates, quality metrics, mock survey findings, facility assessments, and consultant reports. This information will be utilized to develop and deliver education based on resident and care team member needs.
Communicate and work towards achieving goals and objectives for the department; motivate and educate care team members to accomplish the same.
Delivers education and training in a professional manner that aligns with goals and objectives of the organization in a comprehension level appropriate for the targeted audience.
Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and / or administrator. Protects residents from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and / or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
Assists in the development and implementation of training material based on regulatory requirements, current standards of practice, and organizational program guidance.
Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
Performs other tasks as assigned and within scope of practice.
Qualifications :
Knowledge of healthcare management principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of adult learning principles and practices.
Ability to partner with facility based clinical leadership to share responsibilities and optimize the benefit of education and training across the enterprise.
Ability to interpret established policies into operating procedures.
Ability to coordinate effectively various functions and activities for maximum cooperation and efficiency.
Ability and skills to instruct, advise, and assist care team members to meet the needs of the patient and resident population.
Ability to receive and effectively react to day-to-day problems presented by team members as well as others.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or similar field.
Active Registered Nursing License required in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, or Kentucky (compact licensure strongly preferred).
Familiar with federal and state regulations in long-term care required.
Strong understanding of the respiratory care services available in the long-term care and the regulations governing them.
Familiarity with nurse aides, licensed practical nurses, and registered nurses, their scope of practice, regulatory needs, and education level of understanding.
Familiarity with other care team department roles and education level of understanding.
Active BLS CPR instructor certification strongly preferred.
Other Special Requirements :
Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment.
Valid driver’s license for travel as needed.
