Pride Health is hiring an Clinical Risk Manager to support our clients medical facility based in Bellingham, WA. This is a 4-month contract with the possibility of an extension with competitive pay and benefits and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization! This is a Hybrid Opportunity.
Location Bellingham, WA (1 week onsite rest remote)

Pay Range - $65 - $70 an hour
Job Description :
We are seeking a Clinical Risk Manager for a Non-Employee position within the Clinical Support, Nurse, and Respiratory Therapy team. The primary responsibility will be to oversee and administer risk management activities across the assigned inpatient and outpatient facilities within the network. The goal is to identify, assess, and recommend actions regarding actual and potential risks, improving patient safety, and protecting organizational assets. This role ensures compliance with government regulations and accrediting standards and implements the necessary policies and procedures to support risk management structures and processes. The Clinical Risk Manager will work collaboratively with leadership teams to design, develop, implement, and monitor risk management programs aligned with the organization's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities :
Essential Functions : Risk Management & Investigations :
Coordinate risk identification, investigation, and reduction strategies. Monitor risk functions, perform risk surveys, and assess loss potential. Collaborate with the Patient Safety Consultant to enhance patient safety.
Incident & Claims Management :
Perform investigations related to incidents, potential claims, and grievances against caregivers, physicians, or the organization. Maintain compliance with legal documentation requirements and claims management processes.
Patient Grievances & Complaints :
Address patient grievances, conduct reviews, and respond in writing, ensuring compliance with CMS requirements. Work with patient safety teams to manage serious patient events and medical errors.
Sentinel Event Management :
Facilitate reviews of sentinel events, regulatory reporting, and communication of unanticipated events to patients. Oversee disclosure and ensure proper documentation and actions for potential compensable events.
Reporting & Data Analysis :
Analyze variance data trends, report findings, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Regularly provide leadership with updates and recommendations related to risk management.
Committee Participation :
Serve as the risk management representative for committees such as the Quality and Patient Safety Committee, Ethics Committee, and others. Investigate EMTALA violations and ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.
Collaboration & Education :
Work with system teams to design training, develop curriculum, and provide education to leadership, quality leaders, and staff on risk management practices. Collaborate with various departments for risk mitigation strategies.
Clinical Risk Guidance :
Serve as a liaison to provide guidance on enterprise risk prevention for new clinical services, programs, and equipment. Co-facilitate Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) meetings.
Required Qualifications :
Education :
- Bachelors Degree required in Healthcare, Nursing, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical risk management experience.
- Preferred : Experience with administrative and quality data, with statistical validity.
- Credentials :
- Required : Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification within 1-1 / 2 years.
- Skills & Knowledge :
- Advanced knowledge of state, federal, and accreditation requirements, including CMS Conditions of Participation, OSHA, EMTALA, HIPAA, and state licensing rules.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and participate in on-call coverage.
