Overview
The Clinical Coordinator for regional campuses provides clinical support of clinical pharmacy practice at the DFCI regional campuses. The Coordinator reports to and assists the Clinical Manager in developing, implementing and maintaining patient-oriented clinical pharmacy resources, participates in staff education to develop clinical skills of pharmacist staff and education of other health care professionals in pharmacy-related topics. The Coordinator reviews and responds to clinical questions to ensure consistency and the optimum patient care by the pharmacists. The Coordinator also identifies clinical education needs of regional campus pharmacy staff with site managers and clinical pharmacy specialists.This position’s work location is hybrid with two or three days per week remote. The selected candidate may only work remote days from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI). ( ( Responsibilities Provides clinical support and guidance to the infusion pharmacy staff at the regional campuses through drug information, in-service education, responses to clinical questions and coordination of clinical resources.Contributes to clinical decision-making at the regional campuses. Maintains competency in clinical pharmacy dispensing roles based on regional campus needs.Participates in, and coordinates quality assurance, quality improvement, continuing education, clinical pharmacy initiatives, and drug information resources.Reviews regional campus provider requests for exception orders and evaluates for compendia or literature support to guide the prior authorization process.Assists with new drug onboarding and rollout to regional campuses, including development and delivery of staff education. Participates in development, vetting and presentation of clinical guidelines and drug use evaluations to relevant Institute workgroups and committees. Remains current regarding trends and development in oncology pharmacy practice and serves as a role model to the professional and technical staff.Facilitates communication of clinical updates / changes to regional campus providers, nurses and pharmacy staff through staff meeting, email updates, in-service education etc.PATIENT CONTACT : Yes, the Clinical Coordinator may provide consultative services to adult and pediatric patients in a clinical setting on an as needed basis.( Qualifications Minimum Education : A Bachelor’s Degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy required. Minimum Experience : PGY2 residency in oncology plus 2 years of clinical practice experience or PGY1 plus 5 years clinical practice experience, or 7 years of clinical practice experience. Project management, formulary management and / or prior auth experience preferred. Certification / Licensure / Registration : Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Must be Board Certified in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) and / or have an advanced degree related to the specialty practice area.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED : Exceptional oral and written communication skills.Ability to dispense medication accurately and efficiently, with particular attention to details. Prioritization and organization of work under stress and time constraints.Problem solving and critical thinking skills.Ability to prevent and resolve intradepartmental and interdepartmental problems.
