The Clinical Anatomy Specialist provides operational support for the Mayo Clinic Body Donation Program (MCBDP) and the interface between the MCBDP and the Clinical Anatomy Laboratory (CAL). Provides an operational perspective for program decisions. This includes being an informational resource for individuals interested in whole body donation; responding to and triaging death notifications during and after regular business hours and on an on-call basis; communicating with donor families and health care professionals; determining whether donors can be accepted into the MCBDP; arranging for donor collection, transportation and delivery and processing death certificates; and processing body donors and managing the inventory of body donor tissue. The Clinical Anatomy Specialist maintains communication with families as required during the time donors are in the care of the MCBDP and arranges for final disposition of body donors, including processing of remains and return or internment of ashes.
The Clinical Anatomy Specialist performs a variety of key functions in support of the Department of Clinical Anatomy, the MCBDP and the Clinical Anatomy Laboratory (CAL). These functions may include, but not be limited to, the following duties as assigned :
- Responding to enquiries from prospective donors, registered donors and their families by phone, mail and
