The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is currently seeking a highly skilled Host to join our team at our beautiful oceanfront property!

What we ask :
SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to patrons. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc's Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring lasting impressions of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
OUTCOME
The host(ess) creates the first impression on the phone or in person. It is a position that is essential to the efficient and smooth operation of the dining room to ensure that customers have a positive dining experience and to ensure that employees have appropriate supervisory guidance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in supervision in the restaurant dining area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and solving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience at a restaurant preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
Must have and maintain current Food Handlers Card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, burns from hot equipment and lacerations from sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The pace is generally moderate and may be quite fast.

INTERACTION
Employees in this position have daily interaction with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, as well as customers. Employees also regularly interact with other department personnel. SCHEDULING
This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
