The University of Colorado Denver is seeking a highly skilled and proactive AV Programmer, Classroom Support and Install Lead to join our Technology Support Services team. This key role is responsible for the seamless operation, configuration, and installation of AV technology across classrooms and event spaces. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Extron configuration and coding, Crestron and AMX systems, and configuring equipment for campus networks. Proficiency in system design and experience with a wide array of AV equipment and systems are also essential. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a strong customer service orientation.
AV Programmer and Classroom Support Specialist
What you will do :
Programming and System Configuration
Develop, test, and implement custom Extron configurations and code to meet the specific requirements of classrooms and event spaces.
Program and configure Crestron and AMX systems to integrate smoothly with the university’s existing infrastructure.
Configure AV equipment to perform optimally within the campus network, ensuring security and reliability.
Design and implement advanced AV solutions, including the integration of Dante audio microphone system and other distance learning equipment.
Document all programming and configuration changes for future reference and troubleshooting.
Classroom and Event Space Support
Provide day-to-day technical support for AV systems in classrooms and event spaces, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve AV-related issues swiftly to minimize disruptions during classes and events.
Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and quality checks on AV systems.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and event coordinators to understand and fulfill AV needs, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Develop and deliver training sessions for faculty and staff on AV system operation, including creating user guides and providing one-on-one support as needed.
Installation
Lead the installation of AV systems in both new and existing classrooms and event spaces, ensuring all work meets industry standards and university guidelines.
Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and contractors to manage installations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Conduct post-installation testing and quality assurance to confirm that systems are fully functional and meet user expectations.
Additional Responsibilities :
Advanced Troubleshooting : Tackle complex AV issues, especially during critical classroom sessions and video conference meetings, using strong problem-solving skills to ensure minimal disruption of our technology systems.
Project Management : Collaborate with other IT departments, facilities management, and vendors to manage AV projects, including timelines, budgets, and quality assurance.
Innovation : Stay informed about the latest AV technologies and industry trends to propose and implement innovative solutions that enhance the university's AV capabilities.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
3 years experience with Extron configuration and coding.
Proficiency with Crestron and AMX systems.
Experience with configuring AV equipment for networks.
Expertise in system design and configuration.
Substitution : A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
5 years experience with Extron configuration and coding.
CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist) certification.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Familiarity with ITIL practices and principles.
Knowledge of network infrastructure and AV over IP solutions.
Knowledge and understanding of ITSM tools and ticketing systems

Conditions of Employment
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required, particularly during large critical installations.Its not common, however some night and weekend work may be required.
Daytime On-call availability to address urgent AV support needs.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range () for this position has been established at $81,524 - $90,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range () represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
