Painter

As a painter, you will prepare and apply finishes to both interior and exterior surfaces on small to mid-sized commercial projects. You will work in crews ranging from 3 to 10 people and adapt to non-climate-controlled environments. Ideal candidates possess more than 3 years of experience, exhibit strong attention to detail, and demonstrate proficiency with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Additionally, a solid understanding of safety protocols, including OSHA standards, is required.

Responsibilities

Prep and apply finishes to interior and exterior surfaces on commercial projects. Clean, sand, patch, and prime surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and a smooth finish. Utilize brushing, rolling, and spraying techniques for both interior and exterior surfaces. Mix paints to achieve precise colors and finishes, including matte, gloss, and textured coatings. Patch holes, smooth seams, and prep drywall for paint. Be familiar with primers, sealers, epoxies, and specialty coatings used in commercial construction.

Essential Skills

3+ years of experience in painting. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Knowledge of safety protocols, including OSHA standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

2+ years' experience in commercial painting. Familiarity with construction, drywall finishing, carpentry, concrete, and the use of hand and power tools.

Work Environment

You will work on small to mid-sized commercial projects in teams of 3 to 10 employees. The self-perform team currently consists of 27 employees and is expected to grow by 2025. The work environment is not climate-controlled, and the schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 3 : 30 pm, with contractors likely working 42-43 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
