Description
The Opportunity
The Director of Communication focused on Physician Engagement will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that build trust, inform and inspire and improve engagement within our physician community. This role requires a nimble and thoughtful leader with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, a commitment to improving physician satisfaction and engagement and an ability to work effectively across a matrixed marketing and communication team.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee, execute and measure the effectiveness of a robust plan for physician engagement initiatives and multi-channel communication programs.
Plan, coordinate, and execute Town Hall meetings for physicians, ensuring that key topics are addressed and facilitating open dialogue between leadership and physicians. Support a Q&A process for each meeting, including developing answers for commonly asked questions and sharing with the appropriate audiences.
Create and refine communication materials for the presidents of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and the Brigham and Women’s Physicians Organization including talking points, emails, presentations and other materials to ensure consistent messaging.
Evolve standing weekly e-newsletters to keep physicians informed about organizational updates, events, initiatives to include best practices and create a sense of community and transparency. The role requires collecting content, drafting new content and overseeing distribution of these publications.
Oversee the creation and distribution of a monthly email communication package for physician leaders that highlights important information from across the Mass General Brigham system, updates and events relevant to the physician community and resources to facilitate effective communication with their teams.
Oversees the content and management of intranet pages of the BWPO and MGPO and develops communications initiatives that increases physician engagement with the intranet.
Address any ad hoc communication needs for physicians and clinicians, developing tailored communication plans and materials to ensure effective dissemination of information.
Supports content development, including identifying potential story ideas and collaborating with the Content and Creative Team on a variety of communication materials that effectively convey key messages to physicians.
Develop and track metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication initiatives and physician engagement strategies, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
Serve as a liaison for the physician community to the broader integrated Marketing and Communication team.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in physician engagement and communication, leveraging this knowledge to enhance and evolve strategies.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in communications, a focus on healthcare and internal communication, change / organizational communication or clinician engagement is a plus.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies in a healthcare setting.
Strong understanding of academic medicine, the healthcare landscape and the challenges faced by physicians.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with leaders, physician and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms with a drive to develop new, innovative tools and programs to support effective communication.
Ability to develop KPIs and metrics of success to assess the effectiveness of communication initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
Location :
Role is hybrid, with time spent at Mass General Brigham headquarters in Somerville, MA and MGB’s two academic medical centers, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
