The Student Communications and Digital Platform Manager advances the mission of the Center for Student Engagement by managing a cohesive, data-informed strategy to communicate opportunities for student involvement, promote a sense of belonging, and amplify the student voice. This position provides day-to-day management and administration for EngageBSU (CampusGroups), supporting campus partners in leveraging the platform to enhance student engagement and departmental initiatives. The Student Communications and Digital Platform Manager develops and implements comprehensive student communication strategies, oversees the marketing team, and ensures that all digital content and communications reflect the university’s commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and institutional standards. The role collaborates with campus partners, facilitates training and support, utilizes assessment data to inform strategy, and highlights the impact of CSE programs and services, especially historically underrepresented students.
Supervision Received : Associate Director, Center for Student Engagement
Supervision Exercised : May assist in supervising student employees and / or interns within the department.
Position Type : APA Professional
Tour of Duty : Monday – Friday, 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm (Saturday and Sundays as days off); This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA.
This position may be eligible for hybrid work after the initial 90 days, in accordance with BSU’s remote work policy.This is a FULL-TIME, APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
- Develop and implement annual communication plans to promote student engagement programs and events across digital and physical platforms, ensuring messages are inclusive, consistent, and aligned with university branding and accessibility standards.
- Design and execute targeted outreach campaigns for specific student populations (first-year, commuter, BIPOC, transfer, and under-engaged students) to foster belonging and increase awareness of opportunities.
- Leverage student voice and storytelling to create authentic, engaging campaigns that amplify diverse perspectives and experiences. Seek ways to involve students in strategy design and feedback loops.
- Oversee content creation and scheduling for CSE’s digital channels, including social media, website, email newsletters, and campus digital signage.
- Provide daily leadership and administration for EngageBSU (CampusGroups), supporting campus partners in using the platform to boost student engagement and departmental initiatives.
- Serve as the primary liaison to ReadyEducation (CampusGroups), collaborating on platform enhancements, troubleshooting, and ongoing support for a seamless user experience.
- Develop user guides, tutorials, and orientation materials to encourage platform adoption and empower students in self-service.
- Design and lead training sessions, workshops, and office hours for faculty, staff, and campus partners to promote effective use of EngageBSU and foster digital engagement university-wide.
- Track communication performance metrics and work with institutional research to analyze trends in student engagement, particularly among underrepresented groups.
- Collect, analyze, and report engagement and communication data; use results to inform strategy, highlight successes, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise the marketing team, including graduate assistants and student staff responsible for content creation, photography, video editing, and social media; provide ongoing training and mentorship in brand voice, inclusive messaging, visual design, and digital strategy.
- Coordinate with other CSE staff and campus partners to ensure events are cross-promoted and messaging remains consistent across engagement efforts.
- Serve as liaison to the Office of University Communications for branding, style guide, and media approval matters.
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and university committees; contribute to planning and execution of major events and initiatives such as Orientation, Kick-Off Week, and Homecoming.
- Manage assigned budgets and resources for communications and digital engagement, ensuring fiscal responsibility and adherence to university policies.
- Support crisis management and risk mitigation related to communications and digital engagement, maintaining compliance with university policies and best practices.
- Stay current on trends and best practices in student engagement, digital communications, and campus activities; pursue professional development and share insights with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned to advance the mission of the Center for Student Engagement and Bridgewater State University.
- Bachelor’s degree
- One to three years of experience working in a similar capacity within higher education or another communications / marketing related industry or position.
- Strong online / social media communication skills demonstrated by having managed content creation for one’s own individual and an organization’s accounts, website, and / or blog.
- Strong writing, editing, and design skills with attention to accessibility and inclusion.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in campus engagement.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Communication, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Experience with platforms such as CampusGroups, Anthology Engage, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or Canva.
- Familiarity with assessment practices and engagement data analysis.
- Experience supervising or mentoring student staff or interns.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills a plus.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Communication, Marketing, or related discipline.
