Development Communications Associate, Full-Time (non-exempt)

POSITION PURPOSE :

Supports the Development Department by coordinating Patron Communications and Young Professional Fundraising activities. Communications include but are not limited to email newsletters, annual printed newsletter, website updates, renewal letters and invoices for patron groups including The Museum Associates, Collectors' Groups, other individuals, and institutional giving groups. The fundraising oversight of the role includes the CultureHaus membership level and the fundraising Ball, which are entry-points to the museum for Young Professionals.

The ideal candidate is a self-starting storyteller with professional / business writing skills and impeccable attention to editing detail.

This position reports to the Director of Development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Patron Communications

  • Oversee patron stewardship communications including email newsletters of museum activities and events for individual and corporate supporters, Development webpage and FlickR site, and the annual Beyond the Walls patron newsletter.
  • Manage a communications calendar that is shared and coordinated with the full Development team.
  • Support communications related to renewed support such as renewal requests, invoices, and fulfillment materials.
  • Reply to direct donor communications as needed.
  • Attend meetings with the Marketing and Communications department to coordinate on broader institutional strategies.
  • Manage credit line placement and approvals in museum-wide communications.

Young Professional Fundraising :

Engagement of Young Professionals is a critical focus of the Development department to build a pipeline for future support. This position will oversee young professional involvement across Development programs.

  • Lead the continued evolution of Young Professionals engagement including overseeing the CultureHaus membership program and ambassador involvement.
  • Manage all aspects of quarterly CultureHaus events from planning to execution.
  • Work to identify new CultureHaus members as well as supporting growth of members into Young Museum Associates, identifying opportunities to bridge these membership levels when possible for greater stewardship and growth of both.
  • Work in close collaboration with Sr. Events Manager to meet fundraising goals of the annual Ball Lead by leading donor outreach and partnerships. Support fundraising for the Ball through sponsorships and ticket purchases, including coordinating feedback and support from volunteer ambassadors.
  • Cultivate CultureHaus members and prospects toward next opportunities, such as Young Museum Associates, Young Collectors' giving levels, other fundraising events, and beyond.
  • Meet KPIs set together with Director of Development as measures toward personal and team fundraising goals.
  • Related to above duties :

  • Represent the Denver Art Museum at internal events, as well as functions of other cultural and nonprofit organizations.
  • Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations.
  • Yearly goal setting to support Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives.
  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.) :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of development, communications, event planning or arts programming experience preferred
  • Experience with fundraising or communications strategy and tactics or equivalent preferred
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Detail oriented editor
  • Organized and proactive
  • Strong collaborator
  • Personal computer proficiency required including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer; Raiser's Edge and Email platforms such as My Emma preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic budget procedures
  • A leader in planning and implementing event and program logistics.
  • Must be diplomatic, have excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude
  • Self-starter and proactive team member

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Excellent verbal communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking fast-paced environment

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :

  • Some days long periods of sitting and working at a computer can be expected.
  • May need to work weekends or evenings on event days, which could also include standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Position type : This position will be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU .

    Pay : The hiring range for the position is $21.00 - $27.00 based on experience. A $0.50 language differential is available for hours worked for candidates who have Spanish speaking proficiency.
