Job description

The University of Iowa Office of Admissions is seeking to hire a 100% Communications Coordinator, Email Marketing.

This position will primarily create and execute segmented email campaigns within our MAUI customer relations management (CRM) system and our bulk email system, Dispatch. Day to day activities may include creating / writing content for messages, updating existing messages to have relevant, timely content, developing and improving campaigns, and segmenting audiences.

They will also have the opportunity to :

  • develop and improve existing email campaigns to best serve the current prospective student audience.
  • manage communication and marketing campaigns targeting prospective first-year students, transfer students, and international students.
  • develop methods for measuring impact and tracking analytics of communication, marketing and social campaigns, and report outcomes accordingly.

About the Department : The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is dedicated to assisting and supporting prospective, new and current undergraduate students through services such as information sharing, campus visits, admission application and liaising with academic areas, financial aid, student life and advisors. Required Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level of expertise.
  • Minimum of 6 months working in communications, marketing, or related field, or multiple related internships for a recent college graduate.
  • Required Competencies :

    Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies :

  • effective written and oral communications.
  • writing and editing strategic, clear, creative and clean copy.
  • organizational communications including writing copy for direct mail or email marketing campaigns.
  • bulk email software / services; ability to navigate and troubleshoot.
  • relationship and team management including experience working within one or more creative team(s).
  • Desirable Qualifications :

  • Experience with higher education student recruitment.
  • Experience with media creation, video, audio, graphics, photography, design.
  • Experience with digital advertising, tracking and analytics.
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, building and segmenting populations
  • Experience creating targeted campaigns using bulk email systems.
  • Experience working with Google Analytics.
  • Basic familiarity with relational database concepts.
  • Basic familiarity with HTML.
