Job Summary:

• The Health Educator is responsible for being a member of a team tasked with facilitating a combination of the following programs: Too Good For Drugs , Peers 4 Peers , and Elevate Communities Project.
• The Health Educator works in high schools and with other community organizations to facilitate substance abuse prevention services.
• Using evidence-based strategies and programs, the position’s responsibilities include educating youth and community members to make healthier decisions related to high-risk behaviors.

• Elevate Office (TBD) Primary Services Area(s): Waukesha Pay Range: $18-$19/hour Hours: Full Time, Hourly/Non-Exempt, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (flexibility required) Benefits: Work/Life Balance Competitive Pay Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, etc.) for positions of 30 hours or more per week.

• Coordinate implementing and expanding the Too Good For Drugs curriculum or other appropriate curricula with applicable high schools.
• Coordinate and support the implementation of the Peers 4 Peers program at the high school level.
• Serve as a member of the Prime for Life instructional team and teach Prime for Life in both virtual and onsite settings.
• Serve as Elevate’s representative at health fairs and awareness events, including promoting the Hidden in Plain Sight, Escape the Vape, and other learning experiences (events may include occasional evenings and weekends).
• Assist with expanding other targeting programming into new service areas.
• Aid in collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data for evaluation, fund development, and marketing purposes.
• Support other Youth Services programming by implementing prevention education at the middle and high school levels.
• As appropriate, assist with implementing special initiatives, including, but not limited to, advocacy, parent education, and social marketing campaigns in our community and other coalition activities. Expand research-based ATODA programs in schools/communities served.
• Participate in agency staff/committee or program meetings and attend all designated agency functions.
• Assure thorough documentation and accurate, timely data entry into the agency’s electronic data capture system.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and/or support in implementing alcohol and drug-free social or community service activities.
• Provide support to other Youth Services programs, as needed.
• Assist in identifying public policy initiatives to advance our mission.
• Assist in implementing other environmental strategies in the community.
• Prepare program activity reports for evaluation, fund development, and marketing purposes.
• Participate in agency events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or other related fields is required. Experience organizing, training, and supporting adults and youth to engage in public action. Knowledge of outcome-based evaluation, prevention theory, substance use, and mental health. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Honed organizational skills and ability to multitask.

• This position may require travel throughout counties served by Elevate, Inc. (primarily Waukesha County).
• Must have a reliable vehicle and valid vehicle insurance.
• This position requires working in public school settings and may require occasional early morning starts to accommodate school schedules. This position serves community events, which may occasionally require working weekend and evening hours.
• Must be willing to have training in the administration of Naloxone within the first six months of hire and be willing to administer Naloxone in the case of a suspected opioid overdose.
