The Organization :
SAVE provides safety, support and resources for people to live free from Intimate Partner Violence and engages communities in the work to end violence. In pursuit of this mission, SAVE provides a comprehensive range of direct services to people experiencing domestic violence from immediate crisis intervention to long-term supportive services. The Position :
The Community Education Specialist plays a key role in the Community Education Department by 1) scheduling and delivering violence prevention education and training; 2) mentoring the youth leadership group in their initiatives to prevent teen dating violence, including a health summit.; 3) developing curriculum and awareness campaigns; 4) supporting youth and adults with guidance and resources and providing crisis intervention; 5) training caregivers, service providers, and volunteers, equipping them with the tools to recognize unhealthy relationships and support clients effectively.
TheCommunity Education Specialist will be responsible for delivering education on healthy relationships and teen dating violence prevention in schools and the community. They will also support the development of program materials, work with youth leaders and community members, and engage and train caregivers, providers, and volunteers to ensure a holistic, community-wide impact.
- Prevention Education : Schedule and conduct classroom-based presentations on healthy relationships, consent, conflict resolution, and teen dating violence prevention in middle schools, high schools, and with community groups.
- Curriculum Development : Assist with the creation and refinement of curriculum, including lesson plans, activities, and awareness campaigns. Adapt content based on feedback and current events.
- Youth Empowerment : Support and mentor SAVEs youth leadership group, helping youth leaders facilitate peer-led workshops, discussions, and campaigns.
- Community Engagement : Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and key stakeholders to ensure the programs success and expand outreach.
- Symbiosis Summit Support : Support the planning, implementation, and execution of the Symbiosis Summit, helping youth and adult leaders engage the broader community.
- Training and Professional Development : Provide training and education to caregivers, service providers, and volunteers on intimate partner violence topics. Help develop and refine training materials for community outreach. This includes supporting the preparation and delivery of domestic violence education for new advocates during SAVEs 40-Hour Training.
- Data Collection & Reporting : Collect, analyze, and report on program data to track and measure success, ensuring continuous program improvement.
- Youth Support : Assist in individual and group support and counseling, offering guidance on healthy relationship dynamics and referring youth to appropriate services when necessary.
- Restorative Practices : Participate in restorative practices with individuals who have caused harm, when requested.
- Outreach & Awareness Campaigns : Engage in community outreach efforts, including tabling and awareness events, to promote teen dating violence prevention and foster community-wide engagement. In collaboration with team members and other staff, utilize forums such as SAVEs social media presence to promote non-violence education and information.
- Regular Supervision : Engage in regular supervision sessions with your supervisor for feedback, goal setting, and identifying areas of growth.
- Professional Development : Actively pursuing opportunities for professional development to enhance your skills and impact.
