This role requires creativity, strong communication skills, and a commitment to inclusion.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and lead community-based recreational activities tailored to clients interests and goals.Provide life skills coaching, including self-advocacy, safety awareness, and public transportation navigation.Support clients in building social connections and engaging in community opportunities.Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community partners to ensure successful participation.Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and activities.Use of reliable personal transportation to travel between clients, adhere to all WA state laws and regulations regarding your vehicle. Use a personal cell phone for work-related communication with clients, families, and coworkers (Sequoia TR provides a $20 monthly stipend).QualificationsExperience in recreation, social services, education, or a related field preferred.Understanding of and commitment to disability rights and inclusive practices.Strong organizational and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Reliable transportation to meet clients in their community.Preferred QualificationsBachelors degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Child Development, Gerontology, Recreational Therapy, Nursing, or a related field. Or valid Life Skills Coach certification. Or enrolled and supervised in a university internship program for social work, sociology, psychology, education, child development, gerontology, sociology, or nursing.The state requires proof of education and transcripts or a Life Skills Coach certification to approve Life Skills and Staff & Family Consultation providers.2-4 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I / DD)Experience with person-centered planning and community inclusionPrior experience organizing group activities or eventsWork Environment & BenefitsFlexible scheduling to accommodate client needs.Hands-on, community-based work in various locations.Supportive team environment with ongoing training opportunities.$20 / month stipend for personal cell phone use.Sick Leave (one hour of sick leave earned for each 40 hours worked)Retirement (option to pay into a 403(b) retirement plan)Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and may be subject to change.
