Responsible for delivering exceptional design and delivery for clients on time and on budget. Collaborates on the development of design throughout design development and construction drawings. Coordinates with design talent across the firm to elevate the quality of work overall. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm’s values and mission.Responsibilities : Works with senior designer(s) and project team on conceptual designs, presentations, design development, and implementation documents.Leads and may provide guidance to the team on project design for assigned projects, developing creative design concepts and expanding on the concepts of others.Collaborates to establish the vision and sets project goals with the senior designer, project team, and client.Develops and applies computational design standards and practices.Develops design solutions based on industry-standard construction techniques and engineering principles to support design efforts and develop client relationships.Collaborates on the development of and may modify and / or review graphic presentations, 3D rendering, and implementation documents to incorporate the design intent.Organizes and delivers project design presentations to client user groups or public forums.Coordinates with consultants, contractors, fabricators, furniture dealers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives; collaborates on project details with consulting design or engineering firms.Assists in resolving complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions to maintain goals and objectives of projects.Works with senior designer or PM to manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.Proposes material for and coordinates layouts of interiors.Prepares schematic land and site planning models and drawings with graphic content to convey ideas, methodologies, and approaches for marketing and proposal requests.Works closely with the design team and assists to deliver various projects on time and within budget.Compiles data and performs design computations.Performs and coordinates product research; assists senior designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections.Assists project teams as needed in all stages of design, documentation, and fabrication.Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.Promotes newly developed workflows and toolsets across HKS studios.Manages conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environment.Seeks leadership opportunities by providing direction and feedback to team members, peers, and collaborating with team leaders.Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team.Develops and tests new toolsets for modeling technique, software platform interoperability, and environmental simulation / analysis.Supports and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.Travel will be required.Qualifications : Accredited advanced degree in Architecture or related field.Architectural registration strongly preferred.Typically 10+ years of experience.Sustainable design accreditation preferred.Advanced knowledge in 3D modeling in a variety of software platforms such as Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, CATIA, etc. preferred.Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software preferred.Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.Knowledge of the following programming languages : Processing, C#, Typescript, and Python.Experience with graduate or post-graduate advanced simulation or fabrication methods preferred.Experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy.Understanding the processes of design, fabrication, and construction of complex projects and their impact on the built environment.Strong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.Strong knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes.Strong presentation skills and graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.Ability to work iteratively across a variety of project typologies and among multiple BIM platforms.Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions.Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment.Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality.Base Salary Range :

120k - $175k annually– New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago locations only.The estimate displayed represents the general base salary range of candidates hired in the locations listed above only.
