About the opportunity : Staff Structural Engineer

We are currently seeking a full-time Staff Structural Engineer to help us achieve our company mission. This person will be part of the Civil / Structural team, which is responsible for structural designs in facilities such as refineries, distilleries, and consumer packaging facilities. C&I is an employee-owned, full-service engineering design firm providing engineering / design / project management and procurement services to various clients in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits.

Responsibilities include :

• Prepares computer analyses and calculations.
• Initiates discussion within the project team to arrive at design solutions that give the best value for a limited constructed cost.
• Prepares complete design packages, including construction scope of work, for complex projects that meet design intents and customer expectations.
• Research national and local codes, interpret grey areas, and recommend appropriate designs to meet requirements.

• The Staff Structural Engineer develops subcontract scopes including compiling team needs for field investigation and testing, including surveys, laser scanning, geotechnical reports, and exploratory excavations.
• Contacts clients independently to obtain information or resolve design issues. Identifies work opportunities with existing clients.
• The Staff Structural Engineer monitors and reports progress against engineering schedules and budgets. Independently takes corrective actions to meet the plan.
• With appropriate support, ensures designs are constructible. Understands construction techniques, limitations, and relative costs.
