SUMMARY :
Performs all jobs relating to the Machine Shop Deburr / Finishing Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The metal finisher performs the following duties on a wide range of products and equipment. Work is performed under supervision by the department Lead.
- Follow job schedule to perform bench operations to polish and remove burrs from a variety of machined and fabricated parts
- Assist Floor Supervisor with the assignment of jobs to the Finishing Department’s personnel
- Create tools to increase efficiency of part finishing
- Reading and interpreting blue prints
- Manual polishing and metal finishing
- Powered device use for polishing and metal finishing including dremels, sanders, drills, grinders and other tools to complete parts
- Use of special tools to remove burrs from critical areas
- Inspect own work, correct or report detected discrepancies to supervisor
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
- Maintain necessary records. Move materials in the performance of duties or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor
