Job Description
The Opportunity :
On behalf of our esteemed client, we are currently seeking a Construction Accountant to join their dynamic team in West Palm Beach, Florida. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of construction accounting, financials & Reporting.
As a Construction Accountant, you will serve as an integral part of a rapidly expanding, top-tier general contracting team. This role goes beyond the traditional responsibilities of an accountant. You'll be in charge of specialized accounting that corresponds with the developmental stages of our large-scale construction projects, working directly from our clients West Palm Beach office. The Construction Accountant is expected to work closely with project managers, directors, and other key team members, making the role a linchpin for project success and financial transparency payment application processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Oversight : Ensure accurate and comprehensive financial tracking of construction projects, including revenue recognition, cost management, and profitability analysis.
Payment Management : Spearhead the entire payment process, from invoice generation and approval to timely payments, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
Budgeting and Financial Planning : Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed budgets and financial forecasts, aligning them with project timelines and objectives.
Technology Integration : Leverage advanced construction accounting software (such as Procore and QuickBooks) for streamlined financial management, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
Stakeholder Communication : Serve as the primary financial liaison among project stakeholders, providing clear, concise, and timely financial updates and addressing any financial concerns.
Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all financial practices adhere to relevant laws and regulations, maintaining readiness for audits and minimizing financial risks.
Subcontractor and Vendor Financial Management : Manage financial transactions with subcontractors and suppliers, including contract financial terms, invoicing, and payments, to maintain positive working relationships and financial integrity.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Project Financial Setup : Initiate project setups in Procore and QuickBooks, ensuring alignment with project contracts and financial frameworks.
Contract and Budget Management : Develop prime contracts and detailed project budgets within Procore, derived from the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), ensuring all financial components are captured and controlled.
Schedule of Values (SOV) Creation : Generate SOVs for both prime contracts and subcontractors, reflecting the detailed breakdown of project costs and stages in line with the GMP.
Payment Application Administration : Prepare and manage monthly payment applications, utilizing Excel for owner billings, and ensuring accurate reflection of project progress and costs.
Invoice Processing : Facilitate the timely entry and processing of vendor invoices within Procore, maintaining financial flow and vendor relations.
Cash Flow Management : Oversee the receipt of project payments and the disbursement of funds to subcontractors and vendors, ensuring financial liquidity and project continuity.
Financial Reporting and Analysis : Provide comprehensive financial reports, offering insights into project performance, cost variances, and financial forecasts, aiding in strategic decision-making.
Qualifications :
Educational Background : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong foundation in construction accounting principles.
Experience : At least 5 years of experience in a construction accounting role, with demonstrated proficiency in managing financials for multiple construction projects simultaneously.
Software Proficiency : Advanced skills in construction accounting and project management software, such as Procore and QuickBooks, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
Analytical Skills : Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data, identify trends, and propose actionable insights for project and financial optimization.
Communication Skills : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including project teams, management, clients, and vendors.
Adaptability : Capable of multitasking and adapting to changing project needs and deadlines, maintaining accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Strategic Thinking : Ability to contribute to strategic planning and risk management by providing financial insights and forecasts, supporting the overall success of construction projects.
