Job descriptionA high school diploma or GED. At least 18 years of age. A keen interest in civil construction, infrastructure, or engineering-related work. A willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions accurately. Physical capability to stand, walk, lift, and perform manual tasks on active construction sites. A dependable work ethic and a positive attitude toward learning and growth. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening; note that Volkert adheres to federal guidelines. If applicable, a post-offer fit-for-duty evaluation to confirm the ability to safely perform role functions. A valid driver's license. A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR). Eagerness to learn how to read construction plans and specifications. Experience with or desire to learn basic construction measurement tools. This opportunity is situated in West Alabama, where you can embark on an exciting career path in the construction inspection field, with no prior experience required!
About the Role :
This is a full-time, entry-level opportunity tailored for high school graduates or individuals launching their careers in civil engineering, construction, or related areas. As a Construction Inspector , you will receive comprehensive training in construction inspection practices, materials testing, documentation, and quality assurance, ensuring projects meet design specifications and safety standards.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Conduct on-site construction inspections under the mentorship of experienced engineers or senior inspectors.
- Monitor and document contractor activities, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Measure, record, and report materials and quantities used on site.
- Take photographs, maintain field logs, and create daily inspection reports.
- Communicate with contractors, project managers, and engineers to address field issues.
- Learn and implement relevant construction codes, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
- Travel to and from project sites (day trips and occasional overnight stays required).
