Overview :

The Lactation Consultant utilizes the nursing process to assess lactating mothers and their families, develop, and implement a specific plan of care that promotes optimal outcomes for the family; while meeting their educational needs. The Lactation Consultant serves as a clinical resource for healthcare professionals regarding lactation and participates in quality and process improvement activities within Lactation Services and clinical areas utilizing their services.

Responsibilities :

• Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a lactation-specific plan of care for the breastfeeding / human milk feeding family to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Meets the educational needs of mothers and their families, utilizing sound principles of teaching / learning.
• Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the care team.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.

Starting Pay :

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $33.33 / hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work / Work from Home :

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Childrens Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
