Job description

Storytelling around music-making gear — its cultural impact, development, and creative potential — is at the core of what we do on the Guitar Center Content team. From deep dives into the features of the latest production equipment to an artist’s first impressions of their favorite new performance tools, the Content Producer will help establish new video concepts, as well as aid in existing ones, that amplify Guitar Center’s position in the music community.

As Content Producer, your creativity, understanding of how musicians consume content centered around gear, marketing skills, and production chops will be used for videos across multiple platforms that help further establish our brand as authoritative, relevant, and a vital resource for making informed buying decisions. You will steer the production of these pieces from concept to completion in a highly collaborative environment with members of our Video, Artist, and Social teams. You have a deep understanding of what makes a great story, a strong visual & cinematic aesthetic, experience in a variety of professional production settings, a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to go from idea to execution, and most importantly, a knowledge and passion for music-making.

With a firm grasp of the products we sell, our customers, and the music-making community, you will strategically integrate gear, music, and talent together demonstrating effective storytelling, compelling showcase of our products, and clear communication of their techniques and musical applications to further our efforts in inspiring and engaging our customers, growing our community of musicians, and generating enthusiasm for the brand.

You will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Content and Social Media and work in close collaboration with others in the Content, Production, Artist, Events, Photo, and Social team.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of what makes Content connect with consumers and the best practices of what makes Content rank successfully on YouTube and Google.
  • Grow The Guitar Center Company’s share of voice in the music-making and pro audio community by contributing to the acceleration of our video output.
  • Work with others in the Marketing & Merchant teams to identify content opportunities in support of strategic business initiatives.
  • Thoughtfully consider the customer, product, and content treatment that best represents the brand and meaningfully connects with its intended audience and community.
  • Develop narratives and recognize storytelling opportunities around the craft of making and playing music to excite others about the resources and power that lies within instruments + production tools.
  • Forge and nurture partnerships within the music community to help build brand affinity with musicians.
  • Provide timely feedback and reviews during the post-production process.
  • Track key performance video KPIs and provide weekly and ad hoc reporting for senior leadership.
  • Prepare videos for publishing on YouTube including creation of title, description, tags, etc.
