Scope of Services :
The Cost Technician will be responsible for maintaining multiple project cost control data files, providing both detailed and summary-level information for projects at various stages of their life cycle. Key responsibilities include processing project timesheets and maintaining the timesheet database, ensuring the accuracy of submitted invoices by referencing the timesheet data and conformed contracts, and obtaining payment approvals for invoices from Project Managers. The Cost Technician will communicate results and issues to the Manager of Project Controls and collaborate with other departments as necessary.
Role, Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Establish communication lines with various departments to integrate information for accurate reporting.
- Utilize effective communication processes to disseminate relevant and timely cost information to enhance project decision-making.
- Communicate with suppliers, project staff, and other stakeholders to resolve invoice discrepancies or other cost tracking issues.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to monitor, share, and analyze data, resulting in more accurate project forecasting.
- Assist in annual budget development, preparation, and associated reporting.
- Support contract reviews with project staff to facilitate understanding of contracts and related unit codes / costs to ensure accurate project cost tracking and forecasting.
- Develop or assist in the development of project controls guidelines, standards, processes, job aids, and tools.
- Implement cost preventive actions as required.
- Perform standard and special project cost reporting as required by project stakeholders, compiling and producing cost reports as directed.
- Assess project stakeholders' core and special cost reporting, cost assessment, and cost analysis needs, providing them with optimal communication, information, and reporting.
Education & Qualifications
