ABOUT LIFEMOVES :

LifeMoves is the largest provider of interim housing and support services in the Bay Area. Last year, LifeMoves serviced over 7500 clients and returned over 2,000 people to housing and stability for 86% of families and 67% of individuals engaged in their programs. With over two dozen and counting interim housing and service communities from Daly City to San Jose, LifeMoves gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through both site-based programs and community outreach that teaches and reinforces skills that clients need to return to and sustain stable housing.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Grants and Contract Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing projects that support the organization's growth, expansion, and strategic initiatives, with a strong emphasis on contracts, grants, and funding compliance. This role ensures that Grants and Contracts deliverables, assignments, and outreach are tracked and complete.

A critical component of this position involves working cross functionally with finance, programs and operations to manage contracts and grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, government regulations, and organizational policies. The Grants and Contracts Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of development projects, from securing funding to final implementation, while maintaining strong relationships with donors, grantors, contractors, and regulatory agencies. They will be responsible for tracking deliverables, ensuring proper documentation, and reporting progress to both internal leadership and external funding bodies.

This role requires a proactive approach to deadlines and funding requirements. The Project Manager will play a key role in drafting reports, preparing presentations, and communicating progress to senior leadership, and funders. The ideal candidate will work with the Grants and Contract team in designing systems that increase effectiveness, productivity and compliance across LifeMoves financial portfolio.

By implementing structured project management methodologies and fostering collaboration among internal teams and external stakeholders, the Project Manager will contribute to the long-term sustainability and success of the organization's development initiatives..Strategic objectives will be achieved by analyzing complex contracts and grants to define clear deliverables, then creating and managing actionable project plans to ensure timely completion.

This role qualifies for a hybrid schedule (a minimum of two days in the office and a maximum of three days remotely).

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage interdepartmental Grants and Contracts deadlines
  • Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines and milestones.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and task delegation.
  • Track project progress, identify bottlenecks, and proactively implement solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams, senior leadership, and external partners.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment.
  • Foster collaboration among departments, including Finance, Operations, Programs and Compliance.
  • Establish best practices for project management within LifeMoves Grants & Contracts Department.
  • Analyze project performance and provide data-driven recommendations for process improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and updates for senior management and 3rd party partners.
  • Identify and utilize project management software to track deliverables and performance metrics.
  • Create a library of resources for upcoming funding proposals and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Project Management, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, preferably in grants and contracts, non-profit sector, technology sector, or fundraising initiatives.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, public and private contract management or technology projects.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet).
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial tracking, and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to development projects, grants, and funding sources.
  • Familiarity with grants, corporate, private and government funding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
