Senior Systems Engineer

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, testing and support of new system applications and tools as well as upgrades of existing applications and / or code deployments of currently utilized applications. Applications supported consist of a range of products and technologies in the Microsoft space, including Windows services such as file storage, IIS, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, process automation, as well as management of systems applications and IT tools to include core Microsoft services such as Active Directory, group policy management, MECM administration, Microsoft 365 / Azure management, etc. In conjunction with the Senior Network Engineer, provide technology expertise for infrastructure environment, which is inclusive of capacity planning, infrastructure buildout, availability monitoring, performance, and security management. Perform systems maintenance tasks, such as back-ups, recovery, and file maintenance. In addition, the Senior Systems Engineer will work closely with internal customers, IT team members and / or external vendors gathering requirements then designing and deploying middleware, database, and security components to support those requirements. This position will report to the IT Infrastructure Manager.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work directly with other IT team members, users, and vendors in the development, implementation, and deployment of systems integration projects.
- Provide installation, configuration and support, for Windows Server and Workstation, MECM, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft 365 and other various Microsoft technologies.
- Provide installation and support of various technologies and services hosted on Windows Server platforms.
- Provide in-depth expertise related to Microsoft technologies, web platforms and related security, directory services and other components as required.
- Troubleshoot service-related issues and perform root cause analysis and provide problem identification, diagnosis and resolution.
- Support various Windows based applications used in the Amalgamated Sugar environment.
- Manage system resources by monitoring of performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recovery.
- Harden server configurations and enforce security best practices.
- Develop and maintain data updates / loads / integration code and tools as required.
- Design and deliver enterprise software methodology across multiple teams.
- Configuration and support of core Microsoft services such as Active Directory, group policy, MECM, Microsoft 365, etc.
- Design, code, test, document and implement new or modified integrations, tools, or processes.
- Perform scanning and other means of validation to identify potential threats as well as confirming proper configuration has been met.
- Apply patches, updates, and security fixes promptly when required.
- Manage and maintain reliable backup strategies including offsite backups and disaster recovery plans including testing backup and restoration procedures regularly.
- Create, manage, and monitor maintenance plans and procedures that take into consideration operating environment limitations (e.g. space, available resources, etc.).
- Use PowerShell, batch, or other scripting languages to automate routine tasks.
