Job Description
Job Title : Director of Accounting
Location : Albuquerque, NM; onsite
Reports To : VP of Accounting.
Job Summary : We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Accounting to join our team. This role is crucial for enhancing our accounting department's efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public accounting, be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and possess excellent leadership skills. This position offers the opportunity to grow into the VP of Accounting role in the future.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close processes.
Develop and implement internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
Streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy.
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Lead and mentor the accounting team, including the Accounting Supervisor and staff accountants.
Collaborate with the CFO and VP of Accounting to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
Manage regulatory compliance and tax reporting.
Participate in the implementation of an ERP system to enhance accounting operations.
Conduct bank reconciliations for multiple locations and general ledgers.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the accounting department.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, board reports, and regulatory filings such as the NCUA 5300 Call Report and federal tax reporting forms.
Maintain accounting controls by overseeing asset, liability, and capital account entries, new and matured investments, depreciation schedules, and financial institution accounts.
Confirm daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of general ledger and subsidiary reports are complete, and differences are researched and corrected.
Assist with budget preparation and review accounts payable.
Qualifications :
CPA certification is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on audit.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
Proven experience in developing and implementing internal controls.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formula creation, data modeling, PivotTables, and financial forecasting.
Familiarity with accounting software and regulatory compliance requirements.
Compensation and Benefits :
Salary range : $90,000 - $100,000, depending on experience.
5% 401K match.

Pay Details : $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
