Summary :
Our organization is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. As a specialized services provider, we offer a collaborative environment where attention to detail and a proactive approach are critical. The Controller will directly supervise one staff member, oversee accounting through QuickBooks Online, and manage payroll and provider commission calculations with ADP Workforce Now (WFN). The ideal candidate will bring expertise in small-company finance, thrive in a fast-paced setting, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of cash-basis accounting. Experience with commission-based compensation or payroll structures in a service setting is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage all accounting operations using QuickBooks Online, including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Oversee and accurately process payroll and commission calculations for medical providers / doctors in ADP WFN, ensuring alignment with production and revenue targets
- Administer monthly close, cash basis reporting, and support year-end tax preparation
- Continuously improve workflows and internal controls to support efficient, compliant processes
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and ad hoc reporting to support business decisions
- Interpret provider contracts to ensure accurate compensation calculations and address discrepancies
- Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax and audit activities; public accounting background is a strong plus
- Supervise and develop one accounting staff member
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA and / or experience in public accounting a plus
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services environment
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and ADP WFN (Workforce Now) preferred
- Demonstrated experience in payroll and / or production-based compensation calculations (commissions, incentive pay, etc.)
- Solid understanding of cash basis accounting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive both independently and in a supervisory capacity within a small, hands-on team
