Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
- A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations
Nature of Work
The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to plan, coordinate and manage various events toinclude concerts, cruises, festivals, parades, weddings and other special eventsfor public assembly facilities. The primarywork responsibilities of this position are : solicits, sells and books leasesfor special events; plans and coordinates events; fosters and maintainssponsorship relationships; performs administrative duties; manages food serviceoperations; supervises temporary and contract workers; and completes otherduties as assigned. The EventsCoordinator will assist the Events Manager in executing all City Events departmentalprogramming, and this classification reports to the Museum Deputy Director inexecuting all Museum departmental programming.
Minimum Qualifications
Highschool diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in planning,coordinating, and promoting special events in a large public assembly facility.A Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, marketing, or a closelyrelated field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. NOTE : Qualifying education, training and experience that provide therequisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will beconsidered.
Special Requirements
Must work nights, weekends andholidays as required. Physical ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50pounds as needed to load, unload, and set up for special events.
Kind of Examination

Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental questionnaire form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the duties they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applications, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
