Identify defects such as : cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws.
Inspecting all parts for defects and repairing all air voids, scratches, mold marks and thin gel.
Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges / areas by using appropriate power or hand-tools.
Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly.
Cutting and applying materials.
Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
Perform minor or major repairs to cracked or chipped surfaces.
Spray chopped fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto prepared molds or dyes using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments.
Refinishing a wide range of surfaces in commercial environments.
Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management.
Operate powered industrial equipment.
Capable of working alone on more than one applicable craft and its skills.
Organizing and managing equipment required to complete daily tasks.
Working with clients to provide exceptional customer service.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
1-5 years’ experience with working with FRP / Fiberglass composites from the Boat, Transportation, Industrial, Commercial industry
Good understanding Vinyl Ester, Polyester and Epoxy Resins
Basic reading, writing, excellent math skills with strong attention to detail and number accuracy
Basic use of hand tools (hammer, wrench, and tape measure).
Experience with powered tools such as drills, and saws.
The ability to multi-task, follow-through and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact with a diverse workforce effectively and professionally.
Ability to take initiative with minimal direction.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Must be able to work under inclement weather conditions (hot, cold, and rain).
Physical Requirements
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.
Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.
