Job descriptionSupervise team of Senior Designers and Designers working with teams across 10+ ACBJ markets. Enforce procedures, deadlines, templates, and file storage with designers and local teams Provide design and communication feedback regularly to design team. This includes editing work, coaching designers on process and workflow, and working with editing teams to ensure local newsrooms and the design team are aligned. Backfill team members when they are on vacation or other leave Mediate issues and foster relationships between designers, local markets, and other departments Design the entirety of one ACBJ market weekly, and at least one Book of Lists Attend and participate in planning meetings Identify and attend training opportunities Take on other duties assigned by Senior Director of Visual Design as needed
The ideal candidate has :
- Experience managing a team and / or projects, with a proven track record of coaching, editing, proactiveness and problem-solving
- Media design experience and expertise in Adobe CC design tools - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
- Background and experience in design, layout and information graphics
- Understanding of local editing teams and how they operate on a daily basis
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, cross-group collaboration, and planning skills with a strict attention to details, process and deadlines
