What you'll do :
The Central Credit Administration Group is a high performing, dynamic team within Western Alliance Bank. The Portfolio Credit Risk Analyst will take an ownership role in providing the team with analytical and data support related to credit, concentration, and counterparty risk within our portfolio. The Portfolio Credit Risk Analyst will have recurring responsibilities as well as project or ad hoc duties; both requiring a high attention to detail. Critical to success in this position is an understanding of SQL, SSIS and database concepts, as well as the ability to document and follow procedures. Additionally, the position requires independent problem solving, adaptability to changing priorities, a sense of urgency, on-time delivery and the ability to support diverse projects. This position requires an understanding of banking concepts, and an aptitude for learning new technology.
What we are looking for :
- Utilizes SQL to analyze large datasets related to credit, concentration and counterparty risk. Creates and / or uses existing tables, views, stored procedures and SSIS packages in the execution of regular duties.
- Work closely with team members and internal departments to ensure accurate risk assessments and effective risk management strategies are in place.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Tableau to visualize risk metrics and trends.
- Assist with establishing portfolio-level limits in collaboration with a line of business, ensuring adherence to the limit framework and alignment with business strategies.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring risk appetite measures, KPIs, and early warning indicators.
- Proposes improvements to processes, gains approval, documents and implements upgrades.
- Completes assigned projects, which may be individual or team projects and include acquiring new data sources (due to new products, new business acquisitions, new system implementations, etc.), defining / documenting transformations required to load, writing load scripts and testing.
- Effectively applies technical expertise and software knowledge to address complex projects. Proficient / expert in the Microsoft suite of technologies including Visual Studio and Management Studio.
- Manages a pipeline of data and process related projects, identifying and elevating road blocks and executing within designated time frames.
- Uses excellent communication skills to keep manager, team and customers apprised of project statuses.
