Summary : Assist SBA BDO's, Underwriters, and SBA Manager in gathering and reviewing all relevant information of an SBA or USDA loan applicant to prepare an in-depth analysis of the business financial statements, business's strengths and weaknesses, its repayment ability and to fully analyze the owners / guarantor's personal financial condition. The position will learn to develop a clear understanding of the financial condition, cash flow, management, product, competitive environment, collateral position of the bank, credit history of the business and guarantors and strategies the business will implement going forward to be able to repay the loan. The position will primarily entail reviewing financial statements and working with financial spreads, ordering reports, working with tax transcripts, and ensuring the packaging of the deal is adequate. Secondarily the position will begin learning to write a Credit Approval Memorandums (CAM) using all this information, will learn SBA eligibility requirements and to utilize the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist the applicant and BDO in gathering financial data, performing credit investigations and other analytical activities in preparation for underwriting the
- Gather relevant industry, company, and geographical information on the
- Examine and verify financial statements to confirm that they are accurate and reliable and assure that the spread of financial data is accurate. Order and verify tax returns utilizing IRS tax transcripts.
- Analyze representations and documentation provided by the applicant, including tax returns, equity injection and viability of the business loan
- Enter financial statement data into an excel worksheet in accordance with Bank standards. Generate ratio and cash flow analysis and verify
- Begin learning to analyze and interpret the results from the investigation of financial statements, ratios, cash flow, management, collateral, industry, local area, product, and credit
- Begin learning and working to use knowledge of SBA and USDA eligibility requirements to determine if each deal is eligible for government guaranteed
- Perform all responsibilities as instructed by the SBA President, SBA Underwriting Manager, and SBA Underwriters and as described in the SBA Credit
- Interact with the SBA Loan Processors to assure timely loan
- Help with the processing and review of declined and withdrawn loans, working with Underwriters, BDO's, and Compliance as needed.
- In rare instances and based on progression in the position, interaction with prospective borrower, guarantors, accountants, attorneys, industry experts and others to gain information to complete the CAM and render a recommendation on the loan

Must demonstrate proficient reading, writing and verbal communication skills. Requires strong organization and time management skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
Language : Must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business articles, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Demonstrate the ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Exhibit the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, clients, customers, and vendors.
Mathematical : Must possess the ability to compute and apply mathematical concepts, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, calculate payments and run amortizations. Individual must understand financial statements / tax returns and have a grasp of "generally accepted accounting principles" (GAAP).
Reasoning : Exhibit the ability to apply common sense in dealing with problems and ascertain a solution to variable situations. Meeting deadlines is essential to this job.
Interpersonal : Individual must have excellent interpersonal skills required to deal with customers and Bank personnel.
Computer : Requires excellent computer skills and software knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel. Occasional use of SBA Loan Manager and Laser Pro.
Education and Experience : This position requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree. Minimum two (2) years in SBA Analysis / Credit experience, or educational background directly related (i.e. accounting, business, finance, etc.), or related credit experience. Requires knowledge of theory and practices in lending, accounting, business administration, and taxes. Must have the ability to understand and interpret financial data, economic environment, and industry practices.
