GENERAL SUMMARY
The successful Adjunct Instructor of Criminal Justice must possess the academic and practical expertise to guide student learning and success, and to serve as a mentor and model for students. The Adjunct Instructor of Criminal Justice is experienced in an area of criminal justice such as policing, corrections and / or the law. This position will demonstrate strong instructional skills and engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes. Teaching can occur on campus, off campus at a partner location and / or online.
Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES
The Adjunct Instructor of Criminal Justice is responsible for instructing assigned in person classes or delivering on-line content consistent with CCCS, CCD, CTE and department policies. Course content will adhere to the learning objectives of the regular syllabus and, with department policies. The Adjunct Instructor of Criminal Justice is available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education(Minimum / Required) :
Completed master's degree or jurist doctorate in a related field with 2,000 verified occupational / industry hours within the last five years OR relevant current industry license / certification with 2,000 verified occupational / industry hours within the last fifteen years. Which could include areas such as Criminal Justice, Law, Law Enforcement, Emergency Service, Homeland Security, Investigations, Corrections, Public Service. Qualify for a Colorado Career and Technical Education Credential in criminal justice.
Experience (Minimum / Required) :
Five years of experience in law enforcement, corrections or law with 3-5 years of teaching or training experience preferably in a community college.
