Are you passionate about providing specialized care to critically ill patients in a dynamic and cutting-edge environment? Join our team at LifeFlight Critical Care Transport, where you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to patients in our state-of-the-art ground ambulance.

JOB SUMMARY

The EMT provides appropriate, efficient, and timely interfacility transport while providing the necessary basic life support care of the sick and injured neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in accordance with hospital policies, local, state, and national standards of practice. As an EMT on our LifeFlight Critical Care Transport team you will be part of a dedicated team providing advanced care to critically ill patients. Our team is comprised of EMT / AEMT, Critical Care Paramedic, and a Critical Care RN. Our fully functional critical care ground ambulance is equipped with essential tools for advanced care, including blood products, full monitoring with invasive hemodynamic values, specialized equipment such as Hamilton T1 ventilator, ISTAT, Medtronic pacemaker, High flow Nasal Cannula, 8-channel IV pump, a vast amount of medications, and knowledge to operate VAD, Impella, IABP (Inter Aortic Balloon Pump), and ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). The CCT (Critical Care Transport) team operates a freightliner truck that seats up to 9 providers (including the driver) and one patient.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

One year of relevant AEMT experience

BLS (Basic Life Support)

Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) and VFK training is required

Valid Driver's License from state of residence

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates Vanderbilt Licensed ambulances while responding to emergent and non-emergent transports.

Administers prompt and efficient basic life support care within the limits of licensure or certification.

Conducts regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment is present, clean, and in proper working order.

Communicate / collaborates effectively to meet patient and team needs.

Performs and documents safe, efficient, and accurate transport dispatch information.

Assists with patient care and transfers to designated patient care areas within scope of practice.

Complete documentation of transports / patient care performed using Vanderbilt and Unit specific compliance policy.

Collaborates with the Critical Care Paramedic and RN to assist in the coordination of the movement of equipment to include, but not limited to, IV pumps, ECMO, Impella, ventilator, and monitor. The AEMT will secure these medical devices in the ambulance.

Facilitates ambulance walk around, ambulance check-off, pre-brief, fatigue scores, risk assessments, and weekly or monthly base duties.

Chart audits.

Readying tiles for the blood cooler

Assess weather, road conditions, and any maintenance concerns with the ambulance.

Able to utilize technology to facilitate use of additional resources, pharmacy resources, best practice resources, GPS, protocols, and inventory.
