Job Summary :
The Chef, Culinary Medicine integrates culinary arts with evidence-based nutrition and medical science to empower patients, families, and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to prepare healthy, therapeutic meals. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, the Medical Chef Educator translates medical nutrition therapy recommendations into engaging and practical culinary education, ensuring accessibility and sustainability in both home and hospital settings.
Pay Range :
Minimum $32.49 Midpoint $43.05 Maximum $53.60
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience :
Required : Minimum two (2) years of previous cooking experience with a demonstrated ability to teach and facilitate cooking classes for diverse audiences.
Preferred : Experience working in a healthcare or pediatric setting
Education :
Required : Professional degree in Culinary Arts or related certification or equivalent.
Preferred : Certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist (CCMS).
Training :
Required : Serve-Safe Food Manager Certification or equivalent Food Safety Training, knife skills including cuts and handling, purchasing and receiving, knowledge of measurements, Allergen Trained (top 9 or top 14), Fire Safety Training including use of K-class fire extinguishers Specialized Skills Required : Strong passion for integrative health and holistic care models. Creativity in adapting recipes to meet therapeutic and dietary needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with knowledge of culinary vocabulary and able to translate to a general audience including pediatric patients
Preferred : Bilingual, strong computer skills, management / leadership skills
Licensure : Required : None
Preferred : Registered Dietitian / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD / RDN) from Commission on Dietetic Registration or Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist (CCMS)
Work Environments - Functional Demand : Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push / pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
