Senior Manager of Artistic Development

This holistic engagement throughout an artistic process enables its community to build worlds at the frontiers of AI, immersive, spatial computing, gaming, and other emergent time-based media.

Active partnerships with cultural institutions on residencies, exhibitions, co-commissions, and thought-leadership programming, as well as participation in cooperative European networks in the technology sector, contribute to the sustainable evolution and diversification of the field as a whole. These networked efforts position the platform as a gateway for cross-sectoral collaboration and promote production as an innovative space within the arts and beyond.

Onassis ONX is seeking a Senior Manager of Artistic Development to advance the development, presentation, and distribution of projects emerging from the Onassis ONX community and the broader Onassis ecosystem. Working under the direction of Onassis leadership in Athens and in close collaboration with the Managing Director in New York, this senior position will provide strategic consultation to artists, cultivate and help maintain institutional partnerships, support the curatorial process established by Onassis leadership, assist on the delivery of programming, generate external presentation opportunities for projects, and strengthen reporting and communications across the platform in both Athens and New York. The role requires a highly connected, artist-centered professional with strong judgment, a record of developing ambitious interdisciplinary work, and a deep understanding of advanced technology. Awareness and understanding of adjacent cultural fields such as design, fashion, music, and gaming a plus!

Qualifications:

• 5-7+ years of relevant experience in artistic development, producing, curatorial or program management, cultural partnerships, artist services, distribution, or a comparable field.
• Demonstrated experience supporting artists and interdisciplinary projects from early development through presentation, touring, commissioning, or distribution.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary art and culture, with particular familiarity with immersive media, AI, XR, gaming, interactive installation, and other technology-driven creative practices.
• A substantial network across cultural institutions, festivals, presenters, funders, universities, technology partners, and related creative industries.
• Proven ability to develop and manage strategic partnerships and translate relationships into concrete opportunities for artists and programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing proposals, reports, presentations, program narratives, and external-facing materials for senior stakeholders.
• Strong judgment, discretion, organizational ability, and follow-through, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities independently while working collaboratively across teams and geographies.
• Experience working within nonprofit arts, cultural, philanthropic, or international institutional environments is preferred.

Compensation & Application:

This is an independent contractor position for an initial period from September 15 through December 15, 2026. It requires a five-day-per-week commitment and regular availability during standard working hours, with additional flexibility during exhibitions, events, and other major programming periods. Compensation is expected to be in the range of $7,000 - $8,000 USD per month, depending on experience. Depending on performance and organizational needs, the contract may be extended through 2027.
