  • Join the Betty Brinn Children's Museum Team! Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team.
  • This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and staff at the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum.
  • This role performs routine custodial duties in public and staff areas, supports special events, and helps ensure the Museum maintains high standards of cleanliness.
  • The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently while contributing to a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform routine custodial cleaning duties throughout the Museum, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitization.
  • Clean and maintain exhibit spaces, offices, common areas, and other guest-facing areas.
  • Monitor facility conditions and promptly report safety hazards, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or operational issues.
  • Safely operate custodial equipment and use approved cleaning chemicals in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintain inventory and organization of custodial supplies, tools, and equipment; report low stock or repair needs promptly.
  • Prioritize daily assignments and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Support setup, cleanup, and custodial needs for special events and programs.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests, visitors, and team members.
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of custodial or cleaning experience, preferably in a public school, hospitality, or other high-traffic environment.
  • Knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible hours as needed.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to uphold high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the Museum.
  • Reliable and professional work ethic demonstrated through punctuality, honesty, accountability, and consistent attendance.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage supplies, equipment, and daily tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Friendly and professional communication skills when interacting with children, families, guests, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to identify problems quickly and respond appropriately to spills, safety concerns, equipment issues, and unexpected operational needs.

Adaptable and resourceful mindset with the ability to maintain high-quality work in a dynamic, high-traffic environment. Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout scheduled shifts.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Exposure to cleaning products, varying noise levels, and frequent movement throughout the facility. Compensation and Benefits Starting pay:
